César Martínez

César Martínez works to tackle different economic, social, and cultural issues that have arisen in the last few decades. From a logic of provocation, critique, and disturbance, he uses multiple media to confront topics such as the social surfeit against a failed system, the failure of institutions, and globalization.
Free Trade Metabolism: Free Educational Gastroeconomy for All
An action to eradicate the ACANEMIA. Ten thousand dollars worth of gourmet performative cakes—packed with creative enzymes and symbolic proteins—will be served for audience members to taste. DIET EDUCATIONAL BUFFET, a metaphorical symbiosis of fats and glucides against the dessertification of education.
Casagrande
Casagrande is a Chilean collective whose members are Santiago Barcaza, Cristóbal Bianchi, Julio Carrasco y Joaquín Prieto. Their actions cross boundaries between literature, video and performance. Since 1996 they have presented projects such as Chile to the Cosmos, The Legend of a Chilean Cowboy, Bombing of Poems, HH and King Kong, among others.
Bombing of Poems
Location: FEN, Hall Central
This performance consists of launching 100,000 poems from a helicopter over cities that have suffered past air bombings. This action has been performed in Milan, Berlin, and Santiago, Chile among other cities. The poems are translated and published in both Spanish and the local language, with a total of 80 authors participating in each of the iterations of the action. Casagrande defines Bombardeo as an act of memory, an operation of resignification of destroyed urban spaces through words.

Imaginarios
Imaginarios are lectures through which we seek to establish a dialogue with thinkers and makers in the host country of the Encuentro, whose trajectory and work have detonated worlds of artistic and intellectual practice that have transformed thinking and doing in their respective fields. This year, we have the honor of inviting Nelly Richard and Ramón Griffero to this conversation.

Memory, Body, and the Political Economies of Signs
Through an analysis of Lotty Rosenfeld’s video-installation, with which she represented Chile—together with Paz Errázuriz—in the latest Venice Biennale 2015, I will look at the political meanings of the ways in which she interrupts and subverts the neoliberal hegemony and its mass media imaginaries through the body and actions of a dissenting subjectivity.
