Mujeres Creando Comunidad

After the separation of Mujeres Creando, Mujeres Creando Comunidad – Feminismo Comunitario was propelled by Julieta Paredes, an Aymara woman, communitarian lesbian feminist, in Bolivia in 2001. The new group incorporated their members’ ancestral memory of their native nations, the processes of change currently experienced in Bolivia, and the recovery of the humanity’s utopias, in dialogue with feminism and anarchism, to fight patriarchy, power, the State, and militarism, and all types of oppression.The group also engages in an ongoing graffiti campaign all over the cities of Bolivia, making unauthorized use of public space to broadcast their revolutionary anti-patriarchy message. Mujeres Creando Comunidad also organizes acciones to fight against neoliberalism and its ideology, and to denounce racism, machismo/sexism (in the Left and within anarchism, as well as feminine sexism), homophobia, lesbophobia, and domestic violence, among other socio-political injustices.

Moved by the desire of being closer to Bolivian people and communities, Mujeres Creando Comunidad works together with the Communitarian Feminist Assembly, which has participants from different regions of the country. Their goal is to generate their own conceptual and theoretical bases for and Andean and communitarian feminist movement in Abya Yala. The group is not interested in power, women’s offices, or ministries, but in the daily construction of practice and theory in and from the streets, and in the exploration of the transformative power of creativity. Its strength is focused on pedagogical work with indigenous and working-class women throughout Bolivia and in other parts of Latin America.
