Chilean student leaders Camila Vallejo and Noam Titelman will join both organizers of the recent Quebec student strike and New York City student activists for a public discussion about ongoing struggles over student debt and the privatization of education in the Americas.
Camila Vallejo is vice president of the Universidad de Chile Student Federation (FECH). From 2010-2011 she was president of the FECH and has been a main spokesperson for the national student federation, the Confederation of Chilean Students (CONFECH). Vallejo is also a member of the Central Committee of the Chilean Communist Youth and a geography student at the Universidad de Chile in Santiago.
Noam Titelman is the current president of the Universidad Católica Student Federation (FEUC). He is also a spokesperson for the Confederation of Chilean Students (CONFECH). Titelman is presently a student in commercial engineering and Spanish literature at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in Santiago.
The conversation will be moderated by David Harvey, Distinguished Professor of Anthropology and Geography at the CUNY Graduate Center.
