Mujeres Creando is a militant action collective based in La Paz, Bolivia. The group works with different visual and theatrical languages to intervene in public spaces (streets, commercial areas, government institutions, etc.). Its actions are channels for protesting not only the institutional modes that reproduce injustice, but also the “normal” habits of everyday life that reinforce symbolic violence on various highly interrelated levels (race, gender, economics). In keeping with this agenda, group members build community, political, social, and sexual networks that erase the borders between private and public spheres, going against the grain of what is officially accepted and promoted by the regime of “normalcy.”
