Rocío Boliver (a.k.a. La Congelada de Uva)’s practice is a sharp and focused critique of the many repressive ideologies that burden the lives of women around the world. “In this pasteurized society, I prefer to cause disgust, hatred, rejection, confusion, weariness, anxiety, hostility, fear… than to further promote mental asepsis.”
Sweet Sixtee! ♥ ♥ ♥
This new work asks us to ponder the life of women in their sixties, what this stage in their lives implies in our contemporary society, and how the hopelessness of the human physical state, in face of physical deterioration, is powerfully capitalized by a system that “sells” “youth and beauty.” It’s a “Sweet Sixtee” party for Rocío, and you’re invited!
